Tatoo Removal

The laser treatment for tattoo removal is performed during the winter because it's recommended that the treated area is not exposed to the sun.

The number of sessions depends on the color, the depth and the intensity of the pigment. Five to ten sessions may be required. During the treatment, we use a high concentration of energy, which makes the sessions relatively painful. You will feel a slight burn or sting sensation and your skin will become whitish. Some reddish drops will appear once the energy will be absorbed by the pigments. Then the tattoo will start to disappear gradually. To control the pain, you can apply a topical anesthetic like Emla on the skin 1 hour before the treatment. Afterwards, if the skin is too sensitive, we have a medical cooler who can anesthetize the skin during the treatment. You have to wait from 6 to 8 weeks to undergo your next treatment, the skin needing to be completely healed.

Following a treatment, the skin is sensitive, so we must apply a ointment and cover it from 24 to 48 hours. Afterwards, some water blisters may appear on the treated area. It's normal, the skin tries to protect itself. It's important not to remove those blisters, time will take charge of it. Usually 10 days are necessary. In the following days, you will notice that the tattoo loses its shape, it's normal because the skin is lightened, but this disappears completely after several months. You must know that some tattoos can't completely disappear because of the pigment, which is too dense and stocked too deeply in the skin, but they can be faded. In rare cases, it's possible to see small scars appear as well as hyper or hypopigmentation. Besides it's one of the reasons we have to be careful about the sun during the treatments.
